At some point, it's hard to ignore the vivid signs of aging you see in the mirror -- little wrinkles around your eyes or lips, age spots, maybe some sagging skin. There used to be few options for turning back the clock without going under the knife. But today, you can soften the effects of time on your face with nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.
For those wanting to reduce the appearance of prominent frown lines, or who would like to add a touch of definition to your lips, we can help you!
Are Botox & Dermal fillers made from snake poison?
Botox is the brand name created by Allergan for Botulinum Toxin Type A used to treat frown lines. Botulinum Toxin Type A is a natural protein that gets cultured from Clostridium Botulinum. This material is reversible, and requires top ups every 3-4x months to maintain the anti-wrinkle effects.
As we age, our naturally occurring hyaluronic acids within our skin reduce resulting in dry and less elastic skin. Our lips may also become thinner. Dermal fillers are most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, which allows the "lost elasticity" to be replaced. This material is also reversible, and "wears off" within 12-18 months.
How does the procedure work, and how do I know whether I need Botox or Dermal fillers?
An assessment appointment is very important. This will allow us to assess your needs, what your expectations are and whether we can achieve your expectations. Within this framework, we will provide you with treatment suggestions and a treatment estimate. An appointment can then be set up for treatment to be done. It is very important to understand that this is not "plastic surgery".
Please make an appointment so that we can provide you with the correct information according to your individual needs.
